Please note: These positions are irregularly scheduled for 0-36.25 hours per week with no guaranteed minimum. Hours are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Work on weekends, holidays and evenings is also required, in accordance with the Ontario Science Centre's operating hours and special events/after-hours schedule. The Ontario Science Centre is open 364 days per year and hosts over 200 private, corporate and team building events annually.

About the job

•Oversee the Ontario Science Centre's facility rentals consisting of adult and corporate events and programs.
•Provide a full range of customer service to clients to ensure successful creative learning programs, corporate events, social events, film shoots, conferences and business meetings
•Occasionally assist with recreational programs such as Sleepovers and Summer Camp

What you bring to the team


Technical Skills and Knowledge

•Demonstrated experience working in the meeting/special event planning field
•Knowledge of promotion and planning methods, as well as hospitality trends
•Working knowledge of food and beverage operations
•Familiarity with audio-visual and staging concepts and equipment
•Knowledge of a variety of legislation pertaining to facility rentals in order to ensure that standards/laws are followed (e.g. Fire Code, Health & Occupational Safety Act and Liquor Licence Act)

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including tact & diplomacy
•Superior customer services skills
•Knowledge of customer service theory and practices and communication skills to deal effectively with customers (youth/adults) and staff
•Problem solving and trouble shooting skills to quickly identify problems and provide solutions to satisfy customer needs and to ensure the safety of customers

Analytical and Organizational Skills

•Analytical, planning, organizing, troubleshooting & decision making skills
•Ability to respond to emergency situations
•Proven ability to multi-task and to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Computer Skills
