About the job

In this unique role, you will:
• produce alternate text materials such as Braille, Etext large print and digital audio for elementary, secondary and post-secondary students
• review materials and formatting for suitable production
• produce alternate text materials for students attending W. Ross Macdonald School, other institutions in Ontario and for inter-library loan requests from other provincial resource libraries
• provide client support, transcription, financial and data support services within the Resource Library in both English and French

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• You have advanced level oral and written French language skills (see "More Information" for a description of proficiency levels).

Technical knowledge:

• You have advanced knowledge of alternate format production practices related to transcription (e.g. braille, Etext, digital audio), or willingness to acquire advanced knowledge.

Computer and software skills:

• You have experience with and knowledge of alternate format production software and machinery related to transcription, or willingness to acquire advanced knowledge.
• You have experience with databases for tracking purposes and the ability to manipulate data, or willingness to acquire advanced knowledge.
• You have experience with common office software, including email, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.

Organizational and problem-solving skills:

• You have organizational, time management, administrative and reasoning skills to set priorities, organize materials and meet deadlines.
• You have problem solving skills to identify and resolve problems/errors.

Communication skills:

• You have strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with students, teachers and provincial libraries.
