About the job

To assist in coordinating specific project components related to the delivery of centralized IM and GIS services to support Realty and Facilities staff in the Corporate Management and Information Division.

What you bring to the team


Eligibility

• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
• Has graduated or will graduate from an approved or legally authorized college or university with a degree, postgraduate certificate or diploma within the last four years;
• Candidates are only eligible to participate in one MNRF 12-month placement and must not have participated in the MNRF internship program in the past.

Knowledge

• Demonstrated Knowledge of digital map production, data management and GIS analysis
• Knowledge of and ability to use business applications of GIS technologies
• Familiarity with GIS concepts in raster and vector data models, map projections, scale and resolution, accuracy and precision
• Working knowledge with ArcGIS software and its associated modules, and Windows operating systems.
• Working knowledge of file transfer, Internet technology and network protocols
• Familiarity with resource management principles and management techniques in order to assist with maintaining database records and manage data collection, data input, analysis and data transfer appropriately for the section
• Job requires knowledge of personal computers/software/hardware (e.g. word processing, database, electronic mail and spreadsheet applications) and peripherals (e.g. plotter, printer)

Analytical and Research Skills

• Analytical, problem solving and technical skills to manage, maintain, update and prepare data and to resolve technical problems and information requirements by gathering/analyzing data
• Wide range of computer and software technical skills including GIS, terminology, methods and techniques, cartography and cartographic procedures, geo-spatial digital imagery, digital equipment (e.g. survey, GPS, data collectors) to provide support and standard or specialized information products (including maps, queries, geo-processing, tabular summaries and reports).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to support the preparation of reports, correspondence, spatial analysis, resource queries, standard and customized map and information products and presentations.
• Interpersonal and teamwork skills to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and with staff clients
• Ability to work independently and prioritize/work within tight deadlines
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills to assist in the management, maintenance, updating and preparation of data (spatial & tabular formats) and information products with internal and external clients

Computer Skills

• Working knowledge of computer software packages including MS-Excel, MS Word, MS Access, and GIS;
