In this role you will:
•Lead and manage the organization's financial controllership and accountability framework, and the delivery of corporate financial control, analysis and reporting.
•Lead a team of professional staff while supporting and promoting a productive, diverse and inclusive work environment.
•Build collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders to encourage solutions and exchange of ideas on best practices in financial controls, reporting and analyses, provide strategic financial advice and opportunities for commitment to innovative ideas and practices in modern controllership.
What you bring to the team
Leadership Skills
•You have demonstrated leadership experience to develop, manage and mentor a team for optimal performance and delivery of results and alignment with organization objectives.
•You have experience developing and overseeing strategic plans, policy and program initiatives.
•You have demonstrated skills in developing, building and leading organizational capacity through inclusive, positive, and values based leadership.
Business and Technical Knowledge
•You have knowledge of principles and practices of corporate modern controllership and financial management/reporting, public sector accounting standards (PSAS), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and business/financial audit principles and processes to establish the organization's financial controllership framework and lead financial planning and management operations.
•You have knowledge of financial reconciliation processes, variance analysis, Chart of Accounts administration and modern controllership methodologies including computerized applications, integrated financial systems, financial risk assessments and related models to lead the development and implementation of efficiencies in financial management and control.
•You have demonstrated experience leading all aspects of financial management including full cycle accounting, revenue and treasury, capital assets, accounts payable, Accounts receivable, payroll and preparation of external and internal Financial Statements.
Interpersonal/Communication Skills
•You have strong communication and influencing skills to liaise with staff, internal and external auditors, stakeholders, Government (federal, provincial, municipal) and senior management on complex initiatives.
•You initiate and maintain strong and cooperative working relationships with all levels of management/staff across the organization, and with other internal and external stakeholders.
Strategic Thinking and Analysis
•You have demonstrated strategic thinking and planning skills to establish goals, objectives and support to ensure effective financial controllership and accountability.
•You can analyze current initiatives; emerging trends and risks related to financial planning and controllership and the implication for business operations and develop strategic recommendations to senior management.
•You are able to synthesize complex financial information to determine the financial position of the organization; and provide strategic advice and recommendations to support organization executives on financial planning and financial management decisions.
Project Management
•You have knowledge of project management principles and methods to oversee the organization's corporate financial governance and accountability controllership framework.
•You have demonstrated experience leading complex change initiatives to deliver financial business transformation projects and identify areas for process improvement to strengthen internal controls and gain process efficiencies.
