Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario and our goal is to create a transportation network that enhances the prosperity, sustainability and quality of life for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. We lead planning in the region with a Regional Transportation Plan that guides the work and investments of the organization. This includes building light transit, bus rapid transit and Regional Express Rail, as well as operating GO Transit, UP Express and PRESTO.

Our Rail Fleet Maintenance Office is seeking two (2) Equipment Officers - Locomotive, to coordinate refurbishment programs and to monitor the condition and performance of the locomotive fleet.

About the job

Key Responsibilities:
• Developing the requirements and scope of work criteria for the execution and completion of refurbishment programs for the locomotive fleet.
• Developing and recommending designs for implementation on new locomotive equipment acquisition.
• Provides input during the establishment of maintenance schedules, procedures, enhancements, and retrofits for new and existing equipment.
• Investigating locomotive and coach equipment problems and recommending corrective action.
• Providing maintenance contractor(s) with technical support for locomotive and coach equipment.
• Supervisory and/or management experience would be a definite asset.

What you bring to the team


Qualifications

Completion of a 3-4 year community college program in engineering technology, or a 3-4 year recognized railway apprenticeship program, or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
• Minimum five (5) years' related experience in the maintenance, design and/or manufacturing of equipment used in railroad or transit operations.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret wiring, piping schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Good organizational skills. Good oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of rules and regulations established by Transport Canada (TC), the Federal Railway Administration (FRA) and the American Association of Railways (AAR).
• Valid Ontario class “G” driver's licence and meet the corporate standard for a good driving record.
• Ability to obtain the GO Transit Operator's permit.
• Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy.
