Join the Ontario Shared Services team, where you will provide transactional services in support of payroll and benefits to assigned portfolios of client Ministries across the Ontario Public Service.

About the job

In this dynamic role, you will:

•calculate and process authorized payroll and benefits transactions
•review and verify approved authority documents
•prepare employee induction and exit interviews
•provide general information on options affecting benefits
•maintain a variety of records

What you bring to the team


Technical Knowledge

• you have the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of federal and provincial legislation related to statutory deductions and benefits, (e.g. CPP, Income Tax, EI, WSIB, Labour Law) to assist in calculating and processing payroll and benefit entitlements, and in preparing appropriate documentation

Reviewing and Problem Solving Skills

• you can review payroll and benefits transactions to ensure appropriate calculation and processing of individual employees pay and benefits
• you can identify and make changes to payroll documents when required
• you can identify and resolve problems such as overpayment and overdue payments

Communication Skills

• you can provide general information regarding benefits during employee induction and exit interviews
• you can draft letters in response to inquiries

Organizational Skills

• you can set your own priorities in order to meet payroll cut-off dates
• you can ensure transactions are processed within timelines required by insurance carriers or other agencies/jurisdictions

Mathematical Skills

• you can perform calculations on salary information

Computer Skills

• you have proficiency in a variety of software applications such as Word, Excel, and E-mail to create a variety of reports and documents, input data and update records
