About the job

In this challenging role, you will:

• Provide specialized legislative interpretation and guidance regarding the
Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) application/registration process
• Refer clients to the ministry's website for application forms and other documents
• Research relevant legislation/regulation/standards to respond to queries
• Provide information to clients about the inspection criteria for annual inspections for commercial motor vehicles and safety standard certificate inspections
• Take a proactive role in communicating information to the Team Lead on current issues and trends
• Draft correspondence and briefing material
• Perform other administrative functions

What you bring to the team


Mandatory for All Positions:

• You can type 50 wpm as per ministry standards.

Mandatory for the Bilingual Position Only:
• You are proficient in English and oral and written French at the advanced level

Technical Knowledge:

• You have demonstrated the ability to reference, research and apply legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines (e.g. the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, Commercial Vehicle Operators' Safety Manual, Passenger and Light Duty Vehicle Inspection Standard Handbook, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act)

Communication and Consultation Skills:

You can:
• explain complex information in a logical way that makes sense to clients
• provide an optimum level of service displaying courtesy, professionalism, tact and diplomacy to adjust communication style to accommodate resistance from potentially irate, upset clients
• prepare correspondence, reports and other material

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

You have:

• advisory skills to identify key issues and provide guidance on branch programs and services.
• analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and synthesize client needs
• research skills to maintain awareness of current operating policies to provide input to the development of business process improvement.

Other Essential Skills:

• You have organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple and competing demands in a fast-paced, high client volume environment
• You have computer skills and experience using online software, Microsoft and database applications as well as internal information sharing platforms (e.g. SharePoint)
