The Ministry of Health, pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance Office (pCPA), seeks an experienced Senior Pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical and clinical expertise related to the utilization and listing of drugs on the provincial and territorial public drug plan formularies.

The mandate of pCPA is to support the provincial, territorial, and federal drug programs to strengthen collaboration, increase access to drug treatments, improve consistency of decisions and achieve lower costs for brand and generic drugs.

About the job

In this role, you will:

• Act as a scientific adviser to provide professional knowledge, analysis and expertise to senior management and stakeholders
• Analyze and assess funding proposals for research projects
• Lead and/or coordinate drug utilization reviews and related projects
• Develop policy and program options, implications and cost/benefits in relation to pCPA resources and objectives
• Conduct analysis of data and manage data on technology databases to support reviews
• Represent pCPA and provincial drug plans on committees at provincial, territorial and national levels

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• You are a registered Pharmacist in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• You have extensive knowledge of pharmacology, epidemiology, health economics, trends in medical, hospital and retail pharmacy practices, health care delivery, pharmaceutical industry, and technology used in prescribing and developing new drugs
• You have knowledge of federal/provincial legislation related to drugs, pharmacy and medical practices

Research, Policy and Program Analysis Skills

• You can conduct research, evaluate current benefits, criteria, policies and methodologies, and recommend on policy and/or program options
• You can coordinate studies, data collection and analyses, and manage multiple projects

Communication and Consultation Skills

• You have effectively respond to inquiries, deliver options and recommendations, and prepare complex technical reports
• You can elicit cooperation and resolve conflicting opinions
• You can establish and maintain positive relationships with project team members and stakeholders

Computer Skills

• You can use information systems technology to collect and analyze data
