MTO is seeking an experienced senior executive leader for the Policy and Planning Division, to develop transportation policies and plans that ensure the mobility needs of Ontarians are integrated and addressed. In this role, you will partner with key federal, provincial/territorial and municipal partners to develop robust policies and long-range transportation system planning in pursuit of an integrated and connected multi-modal transportation system (air, rail, road, marine, transit, etc.) that meet our province's transportation needs now and in the future. You will lead multi-modal transportation system analysis and planning, strategic policy/planning and intergovernmental and Indigenous relations.

Your Impact
As the Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Planning Division, you will be responsible for leading this division to:
• Develop strategic policies and undertake long-range transportation planning to ensure that all elements of the transportation system (air, rail, road, marine, active transportation, and transit) work together effectively.
• Manage the province's relationship with federal, provincial and territorial partners on transportation projects, programs and planning initiatives.
• Manage the province's relationship with Crown Agencies accountable to the Minister of Transportation such as Metrolinx, which includes GO Transit.
• Advance Ontario's transportation priorities by working with the federal government and provinces on key areas of common interest.

• You have the ability quickly acquire an understanding of Ontario's transit and transportation system, its strategic framework and the issues, trends and challenges to meet all mobility elements for people and businesses in Ontario.

• You have a proven track record of successfully coordinating policy and legislative agendas, as well as preparing and submitting policy and program legislative initiatives.
• You have a demonstrated ability to lead integrated approaches to enterprise-wide policy design and development.
• You have a demonstrated ability to embed new thinking and approaches to policy and program development through your knowledge of innovative research and practices.
• You have experience dealing with highly visible, complex and politically sensitive policies, programs and initiatives.
Stakeholder and Relationship Management
• You can build strong relationships with diverse and influential internal and external stakeholders, including interjurisdictional stakeholders.
• You have influence and negotiation skills to balance stakeholders' interests and build consensus.
• You employ innovation and creative problem-solving skills to resolve issues and propose solutions.
• You have good judgement and political acuity to recognize and respond to politically sensitive issues.
Communication and Political Acuity
• You are a skilled communicator and have the ability to communicate effectively.
