About the job
We need your enthusiasm and experience to:
• process submissions under relevant legislative authorities
• evaluate technical complexity of applications received
• make recommendations on non-complex applications
• provide technical information to applicants and consultants regarding application requirements, regulations, and legislation
• review engineering reports and plans
• process financial transactions
• liaise with clients
What you bring to the team
Technical and Environmental Knowledge:
• You have technical knowledge and understand the principles and practices of industrial and municipal environmental control, pollution control, land use practices, environmental approval requirements, and waste management standards
• You know relevant environmental legislation (Ontario Water Resources Act, Environmental Protection Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Safe Drinking Water Act)
• You can interpret and apply related environmental policies, standards, regulations and guidelines
Issues Management, Analytical, and Organizational Skills:
• You can develop practical solutions to difficult problems
• You can manage sensitive issues effectively
• You can analyze and evaluate highly technical information
• You are organized and can prioritize a high volume workload within tight timeframes
Communication and Computer Skills:
• You can explain technical information in a way that is easy to understand
• You know how to draft a variety of written materials such as an Environmental Compliance Approvals, letters, briefing notes, etc.
• You know how to use computers (MS Office)
• You can read and interpret engineering drawings, blue prints, maps, etc.
• You work well with others and are able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy
