The Licensing & Registration Branch requires a Bilingual Eligibility Officer to review, evaluate and process licence/permit applications and documents consistent with the Liquor Licence Act, Liquor Control Act, Gaming Control Act, Cannabis Licence Act and the regulatory authority for issuing lottery licences.

About the job

Reporting to the Manager of Cannabis Eligibility, the successful candidate will provide support using their attention to detail to interpret Commission policies and follow procedures to ensure they are providing detailed advice and instructions to applicants and stakeholders. They will also review, evaluate, analyze and investigate applications to flag any current/past history of an applicant/establishment, which could affect the approval of the application and make appropriate recommendations to management. In addition, they will use superior research and communication skills to conduct in-depth Risk Based Assessments and prepare reports.

What you bring to the team


The ideal candidate must have:

• Strong knowledge of the relevant sections of the Acts and Regulations related to Liquor, Gaming, Lottery, Cannabis and relevant Commission policy and procedures with the ability to interpret and apply to daily operations
• Advanced written and oral French language skills to Ontario Government standards
• Experience working with applicants and/or registrants
• Experience working with application processes
• Well-developed organizational skills, ability to set priorities and handle competing interests
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to make difficult decisions under the pressure of deadlines
• Strong analytical and intuitive skills
• Possess exceptional tact, integrity, judgment and discretion.
• Excellent in-depth knowledge of the various application systems including iAGCO, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook, MS Internet Explorer and various audio-visual presentation equipment
• Ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining a high volume of work.
• The successful candidate is eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a Criminal Background check.
