The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is looking for an individual who is dynamic and energetic to perform a variety of shipping and receiving functions of Aviation Stores, including the certification and acceptance of aircraft parts to Federal Transport Canada standards.

About the job

In this role, you will:
• Ensure that staff adhere to Federal Transport Canada and ministry regulations and purchasing policies and procedure
• Certify incoming parts to be routed to the quarantine area, based on incorrect documentation, incorrect part numbers or damage
• Ship parts to field bases, other companies and repair depots
• Liaise with field operating bases to process requests for parts, arrange for shipment of parts or equipment
• Ensure all incoming and outgoing parts are labeled and catalogued in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• Valid class G Ontario driver's licence
• Ability to qualify for Transport Canada delegated authority to re-certify aircraft parts in accordance with rules governing parts distributors
• Ability to acquire Transportation of Dangerous Good Certification
• Ability to lift shipping boxes and aircraft wheels up to 40 lbs
• Ability to operate cranes, fork lifts and other lifting devices

Technical Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of aircraft maintenance in order to understand how to look up and verity aircraft part number and determine which components can be repaired and re-ordered
• You have knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures as they apply to receiving and shipping parts
• You have knowledge of a large aircraft parts inventory system in order to receive serviceable items into stock, complete appropriate computer forms, and update Stories' catalogues

Legislative Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of Federal Transport Canada rules and regulations for control and certification of aircraft parts for installation on aircraft
• You have knowledge of Canada Customs and USA customs regulations related to import and export of parts and requirements for brokerage services
• You can interpret and apply legislation (e.g. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act) and regulations

Customer Service and Communication Skills:

• You can deal with others in a tactful manner to process requests for parts, arrange for shipment of parts and arrange for customs and brokerage services
• You can read and follow instructions and manuals to ensure appropriate procedures are followed
• You can write reports and correspondence with suppliers

Other Essential Skills:

• You know how to use computers and related software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database applications)
