About the job
The Ontario Science Centre seeks an experienced individual to join its Development team. In a fast-paced multi-faceted environment, the Development Coordinator will co-ordinate the effective use of fundraising software, maintain data integrity and produce reports related to fundraising results, donor/sponsor acknowledgement and stewardship, prospects, and special event.
In addition, this role produces financial reports and monthly reconciliations between database and financial systems; tracks benefits, payments, expenses, and tax receipts; assists with research, special events, and stewardship/benefit fulfillment.
Finally, the position will provide administrative support for the department - performing clerical duties and coordinating office services (purchasing, budget tracking/report generation, resources, archives/records and retention).
What you bring to the team
Not-For-Profit, Database Administration and Technical Skills
You have:
- Knowledge in not-for-profit fund development processes to be able to provide meaningful administration and analysis of fundraising and donor database and data management.
- Knowledge of fundraising databases and an understanding of a not-for-profit cultural or educational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain standardization, accuracy and data continuity, to design and extract reports and queries for analytical and reporting purposes and, to provide frontline database support for department.
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill all aspects of gift processing, tax receipting and financial reporting including financial reconciliation for revenues and expenses.
- Software knowledge with systems such as Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat Pro and financial-tracking systems.
- Financial reconciliation skills to ensure accurate transactions and financial tracking and analysis.
Administration, Organization and Research Skills
You have:
- Time management, prioritization skills and ability to multitask and switch quickly between changing priorities.
- Administrative/organizational skills to provide efficient administrative support including information processing, financial records and filing systems, organizing office equipment and services, purchasing, scheduling meetings etc.
- Attention to detail and ability to perform tasks/transactions with accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out research including prospect or project research.
Donor Relations and Communications Skills
You have:
- Demonstrated ability in Donor Relations with senior contacts– i.e. practiced knowledge of stewardship activities, including reporting and communications, as well as recognition and event coordination etc.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to draft correspondence and documents and, to interact with a broad range of donors, sponsors and colleagues in a professional, tactful and welcoming manner.
