About the job

Reporting to the District Manager, you will:

• Provide leadership and guidance to a multi-disciplinary team including human resources functions of recruitment, training and development and labour relations to support an inclusive and engaged team
• Manage and coordinate district support for the preparation of resource management plans
• Lead the planning and implementation of monitoring, inspections and field data collection
• Provide expertise in the development and maintenance of regional and district land use plans and policies
• Build and maintain relationships/partnerships with internal and external clients

What you bring to the team


Leadership Skills:

• You have demonstrated leadership skills to build effective teams by valuing diverse input and experiences to deliver results for the district's resource management program.
• You can lead and manage change by nurturing working relationships with internal staff and external communities with varying views and opinions.
• You have knowledge of project management principles, methodologies and practices to plan, develop and coordinate various resource management projects and activities.
• You have demonstrated experience applying human resources practices, policies, directives and collective agreements in relation to recruitment, training and development and labour relations.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• You have demonstrated work experience and knowledge of the theories, practices and principles of resource and ecosystem planning and management.
• You can interpret and apply related acts and regulations, policies and procedures and agreements that govern resource management (e.g. Environmental Assessment Act, Environmental Bill of Rights Act, Crown Forest Sustainability Act, Municipal Planning Act, Species at Risk Act).
• You have thorough knowledge of current and evolving science tools and approaches to support resource management needs.
• You have working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

• You have demonstrated collaboration skills to develop linkages with stakeholders for various resource management planning initiatives.
• You have proven interpersonal skills and a high degree of political acuity to educate, communicate and promote ministry programs in diverse communities.
• You have proven negotiation and facilitation skills to serve as a liaison and to balance public interests in support of ministry programs.
• You have well developed analytical and problem solving skills to identify and resolve complex resource management issues.
• You have proven communication skills to provide expert advice, prepare reports, briefing/background notes and responses to various correspondence.
