About the job

In this role, you will:

• lead the development and implementation of emergency management initiatives for Ontario Parks
• coordinate the design, development, delivery and assessment of testing and training exercises as it relates to emergency situations
• engage with ministry staff, other OPS ministries/agencies and other government organizations/agencies on behalf of Ontario Parks
• lead the development of assessments to ensure a consistent approach to emergency management, health, safety and wellness within Ontario Parks

Mandatory requirements

• The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Technical knowledge:

• knowledge of project planning, implementation, management and evaluation theories, principles and methodologies to lead/conduct delivery of the branch responsibilities for emergency management program delivery, health, safety and wellness strategies/initiatives or other projects as assigned

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• communication skills in order to produce, update and review proposals, briefing notes and other executive documentation that is highly sensitive in nature
• relationship management and negotiation skills to establish partnerships to be able to work cooperatively on new delivery initiatives and reforms, while also gaining support for program objectives and resolving issues
• presentation and persuasion skills to provide issues management advice, and to explain policy or program recommendations to ministry management

Analytical skills:

• analytical skills in order to critically evaluate program, policy and implementation plans to identify and resolve issues and risks; and to perform audits
• evaluative skills in order to identify business needs, develop project plans, and identify and resolve planning/manage issues
• implementation/delivery skills in order to develop program implementation plans that meet program mandate/objectives, plan strategically, identify and assess challenges, limitations and opportunities

Computer proficiency:

• ability to proficiently use common office productivity software, such as email, internet, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications, in order to prepare materials, conduct research and analysis, and share information
