As the Probation Manager you will oversee the delivery of YJD probation services and programs for youth in conflict with the law. You will be instrumental in the planning and implementation of policies, initiatives and operational plans for a safe, secure, efficient, effective and accountable justice system.

About the Youth Justice Division
The Youth Justice Division (YJD) provides policy direction, funds and implements ministry programs for youth in or at risk of conflict with the law, including the operation of Ontario's secure custody/detention facilities and probation offices for youth as well as programs focused on prevention and diversion, alternatives to custody, and reintegration. YJD actively seeks collaboration opportunities that intersect with the work of other Ministries and Divisions.

About the job

In this role, you will:

• Lead and manage a team in the delivery of a program or service operation and contribute to financial, business, strategic planning and evaluation processes
• Provide expertise to staff and stakeholders regarding the interpretation of legislation and policy
• Conduct quality assurance reviews/audits of case files
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, financial, collective agreements and ministry policy commitments
• Identify financial, material and human resources needs, manages and control the operational /program/project or activities budget
• You are able to identify staffing needs, conduct recruitment and selection activities, manage orientation/training, and address employee/labour relations/employee matters.
• Bring an innovative, digital mindset to your work, enabling you to incorporate new tools, technology and practices to support program planning and service delivery.

• You have demonstrated experience participating in the development of long-term and annual plans and ensuring compliance with performance measures and service standards.
• You are able to plan and co-ordinate services and programs, identify and resolve service gaps, recommend improvements to business processes, facilitate young person rehabilitation and provide input for policy and initiative development.
• You are able to identify, analyze and manage contentious issues at the area level.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You have interpersonal skills to liaise with external and internal stakeholders, partners and consultants.
• You can maintain strong networks and partnerships by using negotiation, interpersonal, and consensus building skills.
• You can communicate complex and specialized language into terms that are easily understood by a variety of audiences
