About the job

In this role, you will:
• develop, maintain and manage real-time process control application software, computer hardware and networking devices used for communicating with, and controlling various Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components and highway traffic controllers
• provide systems engineering expertise to support the coordination of software development projects
• provide technical expertise in the design and implementation of software and in debugging and modifying the performance of applications for ITS

Note: The location of the vacancy is at 159 Sir William Hearst Avenue, Toronto. As of February 1st, 2021 the location of the vacancy will be at 95 Arrow Road, Toronto.

Mandatory requirements

• Applicants must be licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

Computer/Software Engineering Knowledge and Expertise:

• You have knowledge of the theories, principles and latest practices in computer/software engineering, data communication standards and protocols, programming languages, operating systems, local/wide area networks, database design, multi-tier computing architectures and real-time process control applications
• You have experience debugging and trouble-shooting application programs
• You have the ability to design, manage and secure local area networks and client-server applications
• You have practical experience and knowledge in the design, implementation, maintenance and systems integration of (Advanced Traffic Management System) ATMS related hardware and software

Essential Skills:

• You have demonstrated project management and, problem-solving skills and ability to conduct technological research
• You have good communication skills to produce reports, and deliver presentations and technical training
• You have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, management, external consultants and contractors
