About the job

In this role, you will:

• provide policy advice and expertise related to forest management
• lead and/or coordinate research project teams comprised of ministry and industry staff on Crown Forest matters to ensure a consistent approach
• work within a multi-disciplinary environment, regularly interacting with aboriginal communities, tribal councils, municipal governments, industry and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as well as other ministry divisions and government ministries
• play a key role in participating on staff level intergovernmental and external stakeholder committees, task groups, partnerships and business relationships

Note: occasional travel is required in order to attend meetings and consultations throughout the province.

What you bring to the team


Policy and Program Knowledge

• You have knowledge of policy and program development principles and techniques to lead the development of provincial policies and programs related to Crown forests.
• You can interpret and apply relevant policies, procedures and legislation (e.g. Crown Forest Sustainability Act, Environmental Assessment Act.).

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

• You can prepare a variety of documents, including detailed technical reports, proposals and briefing notes.
• You can resolve issues, consult and provide advice to generate buy-in.
• You can exchange information and make presentations to diverse stakeholders.
• You can research and prepare own project and presentation materials using computer software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software).

Analytical and Research Skills

• You can research and analyse relevant information to create options and recommendations (e.g.. data and information sources, survey techniques, quantitative and qualitative information and trends)

Project Management Skills

• You can coordinate research projects, develop project plans and deliver within established timelines.
• You can lead the development, evaluation and communication of strategic policy and program projects.
