About the job
In this job, you will:
• Provide individual consultation and advice to employees, managers and executives on a confidential basis to resolve incidents of equity and race-based discrimination/harassment issues.
• Listen and understand the perspectives of racialized employees to help navigate the range of resolution options available.
• Facilitate early resolution of concerns by coordinating mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution techniques and restorative practices to address issues before they escalate
• Create an affirming and safe environment conducive to the sharing of sensitive information and provides empathetic support to employees in situations that may be deeply traumatic and unsettling to individuals impacted by racism.
• Provide strategic advice on issues, program and policy projects and initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders/divisions to support the design and delivery of anti-racism educational and awareness sessions and related program initiatives.
• Provide strategic advice on ministry policy proposals and related communications.
• Identify and manage contentious issues that are highly sensitive and that could have significant impact/policy implications and that require proactive/remedial action.
• Work proactively with senior staff, managers and staff in the provision of expert consultation, strategic advice and issues coordination.
• Build positive relations and works collaboratively with OPS enterprise partners and stakeholders.
• Liaise with ministry subject matter experts in diversity, inclusion and accessibility to collaboratively develop internal strategies to address ministry priorities.
What you bring to the team
Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Policy & Program Expertise
• You have knowledge of Anti-Racism Policy, Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention program and processes, Human Rights and related legislation, regulations, etc. to analyze issues and identify options and recommendations to facilitate change or resolution.
• You have experience addressing racism and understand the traumatic impacts of racism on employee mental health and well-being in the workplace.
• You have experience analyzing, developing and implementing policies, programs and initiatives using Anti-Racist theories and principles, human rights and anti-oppression framework in the area of equity, diversity and inclusion.
• You understand the economic, political and social factors which impact the policy development and review process.
Leadership and Project Management Expertise
• You can create a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting innovation and creativity.
• You can develop and mentor team members to deliver on results and ensure project deliverables are met.
• You have experience providing project coordination, guidance and team leadership for implementation of multiple large scale and inter-related projects and initiatives.
• You can develop and manage integrated project plans, plan and negotiate resources, and provide advice and expertise on project planning and management.
Problem-Solving, Issues Management and Analytical Skills
• You can identify and assess planning process gaps, project progress, priorities and risks to develop mitigation strategies.
• You can synthesize information addressing complex issues relating to strategic ministry and divisional initiatives.
• You can identify potentially contentious issues, analyze the impact of issues and provide risk management options and recommendations.
• You can integrate issues management techniques and principles into planning processes and communication strategies.

• You have exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills to support the development and implementation of key partnerships within the Black, Indigenous and other racialized communities.
• You can gain cooperation and build trust as a means of influencing outcomes to support Ministry priorities.
• You can provide advice and information to stakeholders on policy options to ensure the effective flow of information, manage expectations and achieve outcomes.
