The Ministry of Health, Drugs and Devices Division, Exceptional Access Program, seeks an experienced Registered Pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical and clinical expertise to senior management and stakeholders.

About the job

As a Senior Pharmacist, you will:

• Act as a scientific adviser and provide analysis and expertise to senior management and stakeholders
• Coordinate and support drug utilization projects, and resolve project related issues
• Determine program and policy changes, their impact and usefulness
• Conduct analysis of data and manage data on technology databases to support reviews
• Develop, negotiate and implement policies related to the listing of drug products
• Coordinate bulletins and initiatives for the Unit
• Lead and manage issues, including liaising with patient members and stakeholders
• Participate on advisory committees

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• You are a registered Pharmacist in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists

Pharmaceutical and Drug Knowledge and Skills

• You have extensive knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics and pharmaceuticals to provide expert advice
• You have knowledge of Ontario's drug programs, the pharmaceutical industry and pharmacy practice
• You have a good understanding of the pharmacy operations, programs and legislation to ensure consistency, and to assess changes on policies and programs

Policy Analysis, Project Management and Organizational Skills

• You can develop policies and programs, and resolve policy issues using program analysis skills
• You can analyze policies to evaluate current benefits and resolve problems
• You can plan, assign and coordinate activities using project management skills
• You can use organizational and management theories to facilitate the operations of the unit

Oral and Written Communication Skills

• You have excellent communication and consultation skills to respond to clients
• You can maintain effective working relationships with project team members and stakeholders
• You can prepare complex technical reports using written communication skills

Computer Skills

• You can use information systems technology to collect and analyze data, as well, you can retrieve and assess information from pharmaceutical databases
