About the job
As an I&IT Senior Business Analyst, you will:
• lead a comprehensive range of I&IT business analysis services for ministry clients, including business process transformation and solutioning
• lead, facilitate and manage stakeholder and client relationships to design solutions and meet business and enterprise needs
• promote the application of I&IT as solutions to business problems within the ministry
• prepare and advise on business analysis policies, processes, best practices and standards to promote a consistent business analysis practice within the ministry and across the Ontario Public Service (OPS)
• undertake comprehensive business needs assessments and analysis of complex business requirements
• participate on cross-organizational projects and committees to provide expertise and hands-on business analysis integration and risk assessment
• closely work with application developers to translate business requirements into technical language and validate requirements once developed
• apply re-engineering concepts to promote business improvements through alternative, cost-effective service delivery approaches
What you bring to the team
Technical Expertise:
You have knowledge of and experience in/with:
• industry trends in user experience design, integrated systems, solutions and infrastructure such as mainframe, web-based platforms, desktop technologies, networking, and security
• business analysis processes, tools, technology, methodologies, and modelling expertise
• policies, directives, guidelines, and procedures related to service delivery processes, enterprise business architecture, and current trends and technologies related to business-driven IT solutions
• knowledge of software development life cycle, software design, development and integration, database concepts, user interface design principles, change management, quality assurance, risk management, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity planning
• Siebel technology stack, including Siebel application architecture, process design, and configuration
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
You can:
• assess clients' business requirements and identify best technology solutions from among alternatives to help ensure clients' expectations are satisfied in a cost- effective manner
• identify, research, develop and assess information architecture and data management options, policies, standards and methods for the purpose of making business recommendations
• evaluate directions, trends, standards and policies in a complex and evolving environment using multiple sources of guidance
Communication Skills:
You can:
• communicate, present, facilitate, and lead client dialogues to reach agreement on technological requirements to meet established business (functional) needs, and design solution frameworks
• provide advice, lead workshops, develop and make presentations to clients and senior management
• establish successful working relationships with management, staff and clients
• participate on committees and contribute to project status meetings
• negotiate Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and resolve procurement problems with vendors and suppliers
Project Management and Procurement Experience:
You can:
• participate in and lead business I&IT initiatives
• determine the requirements/specifications of request for proposals (RFPs) and participate in their evaluation
• understand business needs, identify partnership opportunities, match technology solutions to business requirements, and provide advice on I&IT application
