Bring your professional expertise as a Psychometrist to the Roy McMurtry Youth Centre where you will provide psychometric services, including testing, assessment, treatment, research, program evaluation and clinical consultation, for youth under custody.
About the job
In this role, you will:
• Perform psychometric assessments, investigate and assess disorders and psychological dysfunction
• Develop and implement psychotherapeutic treatment programs for youth using various techniques, including crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, behaviour modification, social/cognitive and coping life skills training
• Prepare clinical assessments
• Participate in psychological research projects
• Provide information and consultation services to staff and provide on-going training to facility staff
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You have a Master's degree in Psychology from a university of recognized standing
Specialized Knowledge
• You have knowledge of psychological theories and theories of human development, including the fundamental principles and theories related to the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of psychological dysfunction
• You have knowledge of various objective and specialized tests, and their appropriate selection, administration, utilization and interpretation
• You have a good understanding of programs, legislation, community resources and agencies related to youth activities
Research, Analytical and Technical Skills
• You have experience using statistics, research design, program evaluation and computer applications for psychopathology analysis, and to undertake research projects and program evaluation
• You can administer psychological tests to determine and interpret the nature of psychological dysfunction
• You can recommend appropriate treatment/rehabilitation programs using applicable techniques
• You can monitor and adjust youth programs and services to enhance reintegration
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You can conduct interviews with youth, provide information about psychological tests, direct counselling sessions and conduct training.
• You can exercise tact, diplomacy and sensitivity when interacting with youth and providing test results and information
Computer Skills
• You have experience preparing reports, statistical analysis and administering computerized psychological testing using computer software
