About the job

Be a part of a dynamic team that is developing a communications and marketing strategy designed to maximize client efficiencies and promote our new communications products. You will assist with the Commission's communications services, enabling you to gain experience in areas such as marketing, media relations, multi-media campaigns, issues analysis, stakeholder engagement, graphic design and digital media applications, including content management and web site design.
• contributing to communications and marketing strategies
• identifying and analyzing marketing, communications and media opportunities and issues
• writing/editing content of fact sheets, newsletters, digital materials and other communications products
• assisting with graphic design and content of websites, as well as brochures and communications materials
• contributing to web design, writing and graphic design elements of web sites and other communications products
• supporting stakeholder consultation and outreach

Mandatory requirements

• Candidates must self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)
• Graduated within the past five years from a college or university with a diploma, degree or post-graduate certificate.

Knowledge of Communications Practices:

• You understand communications methods, techniques and multi-media approaches, including marketing principles and concepts
• You understand web design and social media platforms and can use different digital channels to communicate with target audiences. You have an understanding of content management systems, writing and editing content for web, and proficiency in posting information and images on websites.
• You understand digital media applications and graphic design methods to produce communications materials.
• You have an understanding of program implementation approaches and can develop approaches to support effective and efficient program implementation.

Research and Analytical Skills:

• You understand research practices to source communications information, identify trends, assess opportunities and draft/present findings
• You have analytical, reasoning and evaluation skills to assess communications requirements, evaluate options, and identify alternative approaches.

Communication Skills

• You can prepare and present various documents (i.e.; presentations, reports, summaries)
