The Information and Lands Branch seeks an administrator with experience in specialized database software programs to provide a range of services to support the Mining Lands Section program applications.
About the job
In this unique and challenging position, you will:
• play an instrumental role in the operations of the Mining Lands Administration System (MLAS) as the key point person for the Information and Lands Branch
• provide group leadership, oversight, technical direction, advice and quality control and assurance in the administration of MLAS for the branch
• act as the main contact for the Branch, the MLAS IT team and the software developer for ongoing support and maintenance, testing of bug fixes and new enhancements that may be requested
What you bring to the team
Technical knowledge:
• You have knowledge of specialized database software programs such as CLAIMS and MLAS applications and database administration principles/methods to undertake systems testing and acceptance; to provide data analysis and reporting; and to identify system enhancements.
• You have the ability to interpret and apply the Mining Act, its regulations and other relevant legislation
• You have the ability to acquire an understanding of mining lands programs, trends, rights and issues as they relate to land tenure and mining claim registration in Ontario.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
• You possess demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external parties.
• You have proven communication skills to respond to inquiries and information requests, provide training, and chair/attend various management committee meetings.
• You have a customer service-oriented commitment to provide a consistent high level of courtesy, professionalism, tact and diplomacy to clients and stakeholders.
• You possess written communication skills to prepare briefing notes, reports, summaries, and complex/sensitive correspondence.
Leadership and facilitation skills:
• You have leadership skills to assist the Manager, Data Management Unit, with respect to the daily operation of the section; to provide technical guidance and leadership to staff including the coordination of workload priorities.
• You have knowledge of training and facilitation techniques, to deliver effective training, provide coaching, evaluate training effectiveness and develop training material/programs.
Analytical and problem-solving skills:
• You have analytical and problem-solving skills, to evaluate and analyze program data and information for accuracy, integrity, quality control, determine errors/anomalies and recommend solutions for correction.
• You have the ability to analyze training requirements and provide support and training to staff.
• You possess knowledge of research, data and trends analysis, to conduct research involving complex data quality analyses and the development of analytical methods/tools.
