About the job

In this role, you will provide technical guidance to the Ontario Clean Water Agency and its clients on technical, engineering, scientific, project management and regulatory issues related to water, wastewater and biosolids treatment and technology. You will provide engineering and project management services to develop, design, construct and commission municipal water and wastewater projects and assist with the development value add services and business opportunities.

What you bring to the team


Licences

• Licensed Professional Engineer by Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
• Valid Ontario Class “G” driver's license.

Knowledge

• Principles and practices of engineering design and construction of water and wastewater systems and related municipal, environment and Occupational Health and Safety and construction legislation to ensure project compliance with regulations, agreements and standard engineering practices.
• Water supply and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment and bio-solids treatment and disposal to support feasibility studies, design and construction of municipal projects.
• Project management methodologies to ensure successful completion of municipal projects including monitoring of project status to manage clients' needs, project scope, budget and resources
• Contract management, risk management, project scheduling and procurement in the delivery of construction projects
• Financial concepts to maintain fiscal control on projects as well as preparation of financial plans, capital plans, rate studies, funding applications
• Proposal development including development of scope and fee estimates and provision of technical content to support engineering proposals for clients.
• Computers and related engineering software to conduct research, analysis, monitor work progress and prepare reports. Software applications such as word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheets and database packages to review/evaluate data, conduct analysis and develop reports with recommendations and options; develop presentations for internal/external clients and stakeholders.

Experience, Skills and Abilities

• Analytical, communication, negotiation and project management skills. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Experience to successfully lead assigned projects and activities, which may include engineers, consultants and contractors for smaller projects. Provide orientation and training, establish goals and provide technical direction and guidance on a day to day basis; mentor and guide junior staff on projects.
• Strong presentation, written, and interpersonal skills
• Experience in preparing and presenting consulting engineering report, providing advice to clients on matters related to water and wastewater engineering and construction, including providing legislative and financial advice
• Experience in preparing bid documentation and to resolve conflicts between contracted parties.
• Ability to execute on multiple projects and concurrent tasks. Strong time management skills with the ability to work alone and assemble a project team, plan activities and resources and assign work to project team.
• Ability to travel to various water and wastewater sites within Ontario with potential overnight visits.
• Ability to climb, reach, twist/bend during site visits to facilities, for example, climbing ladders, twisting when analyzing equipment.
