World-renowned for its gleaming white sand beaches, windswept trees, and sparkling waters, Killbear Provincial Park's breathtaking natural beauty draws outdoor enthusiasts in droves. Killbear is located on Georgian Bay and is easily accessed by Hwy 69 and Hwy 400 heading north from Parry Sound. There are over 880 campsites spread among 7 unique campgrounds with full facilities.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a member of the Killbear Provincial Park team, a responsible individual with good judgement is required to assist in planning, organizing and delivering the camper reservation system, fleet management, staff house operations, enforcement and operational programs. You will provide effective group leadership for the technical, operational and monitoring duties for successful day-to-day operation of the park.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

knowledge of resource management practices, park management, law enforcement and applicable legislation such as the Crown Forest Sustainability Act, Fisheries Act, Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserve Act, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act and Liquor Licence Act in order to lay charges, process tickets, conduct search and seizure, and deal with uncooperative or aggressive park users; knowledge of general building and utility maintenance, including the ability to maintain a variety of office and light powered equipment such as photocopier, lawnmowers, chainsaws, boats and small hand tools; demonstrated analytical, organizational and arithmetic skills; group leadership, interpersonal and communication skills; computer proficiency including ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, record-keeping, electronic mail, database and internet software applications; knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act; valid driver's licence; possession of or ability to obtain valid Emergency First Aid Certificate, Limited Subsystem Water Certificate, Chainsaw Operator Certificate/Licence and Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A3 Operator's certificate; ability to be designated as a Park Warden and meet the ministry certification criteria and standards in the Use of Force.
