Corridor Management Planner

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will apply policies, standards and legislation to determine, convey, and promote the ministry's position with respect to municipal land use planning proposals that have impact on the provincial highway network.

About the job

You will:

• lead, manage, negotiate and coordinate responses to multiple land use planning applications and development proposals
• ensure compatibility with government legislation, ministry policies, standards and objectives that impact on the provincial highway network
• provide specialized advice to a wide range of external and internal stakeholders on transportation matters related to land use planning applications
• identify, negotiate and recommend terms and conditions for agreements related to developer-driven highway improvements
• work effectively with external stakeholders such as municipalities and developers
• lead and coordinate requests for highway designations, transfers, assumptions, revocations, removals and closings

Mandatory requirements

• The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Technical Knowledge:

• you have knowledge of theory, principles and practices of land use planning in order to review and assess the impact of development proposals on the provincial highway network
• you have demonstrated knowledge of provincial legislation, such as the Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act and the Planning Act
• you have knowledge of traffic operations, drainage, highway design and construction
• you can read and interpret highway and construction plans, reports, and site plans

• you have strong analytical, decision making, problem solving and judgment skills
• you have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide range of internal and external clients and to write written responses
• you have strong organizational and planning skills to plan work, set priorities and coordinate with internal and external clients
• you have strong skills and knowledge in the use of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Note:

• As of July 1, 2021, the salary range for this position will be $1,352.43 to $1,704.06 per week, per the OPSEU Collective Agreement.
