The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Commander of Business Management Bureau are seeking a qualified member to work within the Procurement Services Section to coordinate an effective and economical procurement and supply program covering a wide variety of goods and services in support of the program areas of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). To provide administrative procurement services support to ensure procurements are completed in accordance to internal policy and the Ontario Public Service (OPS) Procurement Directive.

About the job

To coordinate an effective and economical procurement and supply program covering a wide variety of goods and services in support of the program areas of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). To provide administrative procurement services support to ensure procurements are completed in accordance to internal policy and the Ontario Public Service (OPS) Procurement Directive.

Mandatory requirements

• Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of procurement, contract management, standing agreements, purchasing and material management in accordance with applicable policies, guidelines and practices to maintain the integrity of an effective and economical procurement and supply program for the organization.
• Knowledge of policies, directives and guidelines to provide specialized procurement services, identify viable options for the client needs; research and prepare competitive and non-competitive procurement materials and assist in the preparation and administration of contractual agreements and multi-year contracts such as leases or service agreements.
• Knowledge of financial procedures to ensure appropriate processing methods are applied to all purchases, including mathematical skills to prepare and evaluate pricing.
• Ability to utilize personal computer software, including Microsoft Suite, financial management software, and specialized in house software to prepare spreadsheets, analyze information, maintain databases and extract reports.
• Organizational and time management skills to prioritize, plan, and coordinate various procurement projects within established timeframes, including the ability to coordinate procurements and identify priorities.
• Written, oral, interpersonal and customer service skills to work with clients and vendors and prepare procurement documentation, reports and tenders. Ability to discuss and negotiate to resolve problems
• Ability to analyze procurement activities identifying opportunities for consolidation, bulk or package buying; resulting in cost savings.
