You will be part of BIBA team leading implementation of on-going modernization of the On-line Analytical Processing (OLAP) solution offerings and the related infrastructure that supports the Ontario's Ministry of Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care critical program business needs. CSIM Branch is part of the Health Services I&IT Cluster (HSC).

About the job

As a Senior Systems Analysis Specialist, you will contribute to multiple on-going modernization initiatives such as cloud adoption for OLAP solutions and delivery by enhancing existing ‘Data as a Service' (DaaS) provided by the unit to ministry clients. In this role, you will:

• lead implementation of technology modernization roadmap developed for the Business Intelligence and Business Analytics (BI&BA) environment
• provide specialized technical expertise in the overall analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, support, and maintenance of systems supporting OLAP solutions
• support and configure specialized OLAP software either on-premise or on cloud, providing expertise, and ensuring expected behavior and performance
• undertake development of automated data pipelines integrating heterogeneous cloud and on-premise data sources and operations
• provide leadership in operations management of deployed OLAP solutions including troubleshooting

What you bring to the team


Technical Skills:

You will have:
• knowledge and experience with On-line Analytical Processing (OLAP) solutions such as IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D), Apache Spark and others
• data management domain knowledge such as data quality, master data management, data virtualization, data de-identification, and others
• knowledge and experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
• experience with programming languages such as SQL/PLSQL, Python and Windows/Unix shell scripting
• data engineering abilities related to ETL/ELT/creating data pipes
• experience in working with hybrid On-premise / Cloud solutions, dealing with data stored On-prem and Cloud.
• experience participating in feasibility studies, requirement definition analysis, design, prototyping, testing, and maintenance of business-critical multi-tiered OLAP solutions
• demonstrated experience in the end-to-end systems development life cycle (SDLC) for OLAP solutions using waterfall or agile methodologies
• experience with client application migration (On-Prem/Cloud) and post migration support

Project and Service Management Skills:

• You have demonstrated knowledge of project management including experience in coordination, project planning, timelines, scope, budget and status reporting.
• You have technical leadership skills in operations management to support clients and staff post- implementation of new and modified application systems covering incident and change management processes.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

• You have proven analytical, problem-solving and reasoning skills to assess, identify and coordinate problems, and develop recommendations and approaches regarding business, technical, privacy and security concerns, and implement approved strategies.

Communication, Interpersonal and Presentation Skills:

• You have demonstrated communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to support technical and non-technical clients and staff by providing status updates and establishing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
