Join the Government of Ontario and the Strategic Communications Branch of the Ministry of Francophone Affairs (MFA), to provide an overall integrated communications approach for this dynamic organization committed to Ontario's Francophone community and the provision of government services in French.

About the job

In this role, you will:
• develop strategic communication and stakeholder relations plans
• integrate policy and communications initiatives
• identify issues, and write speeches, correspondence and news releases
• support the development and management of the MFA web sites including monitoring content and design
• handle media relations and monitoring

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

You must possess oral and written French language skills at the superior level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.

Technical Knowledge and Skill:

• You demonstrate knowledge of communication theories, techniques and planning principles, media organizations and relations, advertising, publication production techniques and methods
• You have strong writing and editing skills to draft speeches, research, write communications products (e.g. news releases, statements) and prepare issue notes and strategies

Communication Skills:

• You have strong oral communication skills to respond to inquiries and serve as a liaison with media representatives

Analytical, Evaluation and Strategic Planning Skills:

• You have sound analytical skills to assess communication requirements for target audiences and develop communication strategies, products and services to meet identified communications objectives
• You have sound evaluation skills to identify appropriate communication concepts and messages for initiatives and activities as well as to establish and implement communication project plans, schedules and timelines for each
• You have proven strategic planning skills to develop strategic communications plans which address and integrate MFA policy initiatives

Other Essential Skills:

• You demonstrate knowledge of Ontario's Francophone community, culture, concerns, issues and organizations
• You are proficient in the use of Windows NT, HTML, Excel, Internet and Intranet to coordinate and maintain Internet and Intranet sites and serve as a web editor

    Effective October 1, 2021, the OPS COVID-19 Safe Workplace Directive requires all Ontario Public Service employees to provide proof they are fully vaccinated, meaning they are fully vaccinated as defined by the Ministry of Health (refer to: COVID-19 Fully Vaccinated Status in Ontario), including 14 calendar days have passed since receiving their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
