The Ministry of the Solicitor General operates correctional institutions and probation and parole offices across the province and employs correctional and probation and parole officers, nurses, administrative support personnel and managers in its operations.

This unique and challenging position offers an opportunity to showcase your extensive expertise in the field of occupational health. Using your experience, skills and talent, you will lead the creation, administration and oversight of an occupational health program for employees working in correctional services.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• manage the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of occupational health and safety program delivery strategies and frameworks to support occupational health services and related program delivery within the correctional facilities across the province.
• lead the occupational health team in the delivery of occupational health and safety program/services through the development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of standards and policies and procedures for occupational health care within correctional facilities and probation and parole offices across the province.
• Lead the development and implementation of stakeholder management strategies to ensure consultative mechanisms are in place for the identification of emerging trends, issue and challenges to help inform future policy direction and maintain ongoing stakeholder relations.
• Lead a team of occupational health nurses and oversee and coordinate the development and implementation of occupational health and safety programs and service initiatives to support institutions,

This position will require travelling province-wide.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• Registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario in good standing.
• Completion of a Health Canada recognized Occupational Health and Safety Certificate Program.
• Have a valid Ontario driver's license with the willingness to travel

Technical Skills:

• You understand policies and procedures relating to province wide infection prevention and control and health care services to lead/investigate issues and provide expertise on Correctional Services projects/teams which impact program, policy and business change on services and standards.
• You demonstrate knowledge of health care administration and health care practices and programs to oversee the implementation, evaluation and maintenance of professional standards, protocols and operational policies and procedures for the effective delivery of health care services across the province.
