In this position, you are responsible for technical implementation of cloud deployment and migration strategy. This is a hands-on role crafting the cloud usage patterns for the organization with a strong focus on microservices, containers, infrastructure and migrating existing work loads to cloud. You will also contribute to enterprise-wide architectures and related policies, standards, guidelines, best practices and governance processes.

About the job

• Execute the strategic roadmap for cloud architecture
• Ensure all technology implementations in the cloud architecture are in line with OPS standards
• Provide subject matter expertise on cloud technology
• Define technology patterns within the cloud infrastructure
• Work closely with the enterprise architect to make sure usage is integrated and optimized
• Gather business requirements and designs solutions and enable service journeys into the cloud
• Work in partnership with cloud vendors, corporate services procurement, infrastructure, network and security
operations and ministry application owners to:
- Deploy cloud hosting services
- Integrate and secure cloud services
- Develop and certify cloud application design patterns
- Identify application candidates best suitable for cloud hosting
- Migrate applications and data to cloud
• Provide strategic and authoritative advice to support architecture, policy, procedures and program development
• Provide architecture guidance and support to client ministries, I&IT product managers and solutions designers
• Participate in enterprise-wide and cross jurisdictional architecture projects

What you bring to the team

Technical Knowledge and Experience (Domain Expertise):

You have:
• Knowledge of I&IT enterprise architecture (business, technology, applications, security and information) strategies, frameworks, policies, plans, current and emerging enterprise architecture principles, methodologies, mechanisms and techniques
• Understanding of disciplines of enterprise software development such as configuration & release management, source code & version controls, and operational considerations such as monitoring and instrumentation
• Strong knowledge of software development methodologies like Agile/Scrum, Kan Ban etc.
• Comprehensive understanding of enterprise project lifecycle
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex large scale cloud architecture solutions
• Strong understanding and experience with many or all of the following:
 Cloud technology integration (Orchestration, network, data, identity and services)
 Cloud application design methodologies
 Cloud vendor contract management
 Documenting cloud architecture and services
 Understanding of Government IT practices, standards, policies, etc.
• Expert knowledge of cloud native solution design and best practices such as Microservice, API management.
• Demonstrated ability to design, plan, manage and provision cloud solution architecture, infrastructure, networks.
• Strong understanding of IAM and modern security mechanism/protocol, such as OAuth2, OpenID connect, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the cloud data management including but not limited to Security, Scalability, Governed access, automated backup and recovery.

Technical Knowledge and Experience (Agile Expertise):

You have:
• Demonstrated experience in Agile development
• Demonstrated experience working across multiple cloud environments
• Demonstrated experience with Cloud App Containerization
• Extensive experience with data ingestion, storage and processing on cloud
• Demonstrated experience delivering on large scale enterprise cloud migration initiatives

Communication Skills

• You have strong communications skills to consult and clarify needs, present information, options and recommendations, explain technical concepts and terminology and architecture-related topics to peers/clients/stakeholders.
