About the job
You will:
• plan, develop, implement and evaluate the Philanthropy & Partnership Development Strategies for Ontario Parks
• assist in the planning and development of the three year strategic marketing plan, ensuring that the philanthropy and partnership programs fit within the overall marketing plan of the organization
• Note: This position is located at 300 Water Street in Peterborough, however alternate work arrangements may be available.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory:
Valid driver's license in order to travel and meet with donors and business contacts province-wide, where public transit may not be available in the region.
Specialized Knowledge:
• you have knowledge of business, philanthropy and partnership development and marketing theories, principles and best practices
• you can plan and implement province-wide philanthropy & partnership initiatives, projects and activities and provide strategic consultative advice and expertise in philanthropy & partnership development
• you understand government financial and contract management policies and procedures to develop business and contractual agreements and financial terms between the ministry and its partners
• you can gain knowledge of the mandate, goals and program objectives of Ontario Parks and the framework of the entrepreneurial business model for the management of the provincial parks systems
• you have knowledge of adult education and training principles and practices to participate in and provide advice to the development of a variety of educational and training tools/resources, and develop/deliver public education presentations and workshops
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• you have effective written communication skills to develop guidelines and resources, briefings for senior management, and develop public education presentations and workshops
• you have oral communications skills to liaise with the media and high-level donors to provide information regarding philanthropy & partnership initiatives
• you can use your communications, interpersonal and training skills to provide strategic consultative advice, training and expertise in philanthropy & partnership development to Parks management
• you can build and maintain effective relationships with others
• you have proven negotiation skills to meet with potential members of the business community to promote and negotiate partnerships and donor agreements
• you have proven presentation skills to deliver public education presentations and workshops
Research, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
• you can use your research and evaluating skills to determine potential contacts/donors and foster partnerships/philanthropic relationships with the donor/business community
• you have analytical skills to determine optimum methods to pursue, negotiate, manage and promote philanthropy & partnerships at the local level,
• you can review and evaluate the entrepreneurial business model for the management of the provincial parks systems, and develop strategies, related donor/partnership initiatives, projects and activities to best further the strategy
• you have evaluating skills to review contracts and ensure they reflect negotiated agreements, program goals and requirements, project plans and timelines
• you can analyze philanthropy & partnership success and evaluate programs, projects and partnerships/donor projects against performance measurements
• you have proven problem-solving skills to quickly respond to and resolve potential problems between donors/partners and Ontario Parks
Project Management, Organizational and Collaboration Skills:
• you have knowledge of project planning and management principles and practices and have demonstrated the ability to manage concurrent philanthropy & partnership development projects
• you have organizational skills to work independently and are able to handle competing priorities while meeting rigid deadlines
• you can work in a team environment, act as a positive team player and develop working agreements and cooperation between external public and private partners and internal staff within Ontario Parks (at the park, zone and branch level and across the Ministry), to create and implement sponsorship and partnership programs and strategies
