The Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Ministry of the Attorney General, requires a creative and proactive professional to develop, implement and deliver outreach programming for the SIU by building acceptance of the organization by the public and the police.
About the job
As the Outreach Coordinator, you will:
• Develop a proactive outreach function, establish partnerships to promote awareness and improve accessibility of the SIU to the general public.
• Deliver SIU-related presentations to various stakeholders and audiences.
• Assume lead role in reporting SIU outreach and information of interest to First Nations organizations.
• Assume joint responsibility for the creation and dissemination of the SIU annual report.
• Assume lead role in administration of SIU Director's Resource Committee.
• Assess the viability of current promotional products and improve current and/or develop new tools to promote the SIU effectively by capitalizing on input from clients and the outreach team to create new opportunities to improve outreach.
• Establish active relationships with national and provincial organizations, develop a network of connections with community leaders, and maintain liaison with the education sector by ensuring partnerships are managed in a productive, sensitive, responsible and accountable manner.
• Work closely with the Communications Coordinator to coordinate SIU messaging.
• Occasionally provide back-up to the Communications Coordinator by serving as the SIU's media spokesperson.

• You can represent ministry/division program and strategic position on issues.

• You have experience assessing client needs and determining resource requirements.
• You have experience weighing costs and benefits and making appropriate recommendations.
• You can acquire and apply knowledge of the SIU programs, goals and objectives.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
• You have demonstrated oral and written communication skills to maintain productive relationships with stakeholders.
• You have consensus-building and relationship management skills to build effective business relationships.
• You have a high degree of diplomacy, political acuity, and judgement to work with various stakeholders.
• You have presentation skills to make presentations, conduct meetings, share information, and present and prepare reports, planning documents, presentations, briefings and proposals.
Project & Event Management:
• You have proven project management and event management skills.
• You have experience dealing with, and responding to, conflicting priorities.
