About the job

In this role, you will plan, coordinate, administer and oversee operational and maintenance activities, including compliance with operational agreements in accordance with all relevant legislation, acts and regulations.
Provide team leadership to operational and maintenance staff.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• Must be able to be certified to the level of the facilities: Class 2 certification in Water and Wastewater Treatment and Class 2 certification in Water Distribution and Supply
• A lesser qualified candidate may be considered as an under-fill minimum Operator-in-Training (OIT), as specified in Ontario Reg. 128/04 of the Safe Drinking Water Act and Ontario Reg. 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act
• Valid Class G driver's license
• Travel within the cluster as required
• Must be available to be on-call after regular working hours
• Ability to respond to alarms within a reasonable amount of time

Knowledge

• Good technical knowledge of the theories, principles and practices related to the operation, maintenance and administration of water processes and related equipment.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental health and safety legislation, regulations, procedures and guidelines including the Safe Drinking Water Act, Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Regulations 180/03, 128/03 169/03, and 170/3, Occupational Health and Safety Act, National Fire Prevention Association Standards 291, Traffic Management Section 7 of the Highway Traffic Act as well as other statues to monitor program delivery and ensure compliance.
• Working knowledge and experience with the Drinking Water Quality Management System
• Demonstrated experience supervising staff to train, direct and assign work activities.
• Ability to complete documentation that ensures adherence to the applicable acts and regulations
• Ensure optimization of resources, staffing and financial, to effectively maintain the continuity of operations and maintenance services programs, as well assessing potential environmental impacts or health and safety concerns.
• Actively participate OCWA's health and safety policies and philosophies, ensuring the safety and well-being of your coworkers

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

• Good interpersonal skills are required to effectively communicate with Agency staff, clients, other levels of government and the public.

Other Essential Skills

• Good planning, financial and analytical skills to manage and plan multiple projects & assess project priorities
• Ability to optimize and implement changes to processes to improve facilities operations
