About the job

• Maintain the master key system for all facility buildings and personnel, cutting duplicate keys as necessary, repairing locks and rekeying doors
• Determine work methods in accordance with government codes and by-laws
• Estimate material and labour requirements, requisitioning supplies and keeping records of supplies used, and interacting with suppliers
• Maintain preventive maintenance program on equipment
• Maintain, install, relocate camera equipment
• Other duties, as assigned

What you bring to the team


Technical Knowledge and Experience

• You have knowledge of and experience with the techniques, equipment and tools used in the locksmith practice in order to determine the proper method of altering and replacing structures (i.e. doors, door hardware, locks) and maintaining building security
• You have experience reading and following blueprints sketches/plans to ensure proper layout and measurements of structures
• You have experience preparing sketches to properly construct and modify structures
• You have knowledge of master/sub master systems as well as computerized key control systems
• You have knowledge of relevant by-laws and codes to ensure the safety and efficiency of locks
• You are able to understand and follow health and safety regulations as well as corporate policies and procedures

Other Essential Skills

• You have communication skills to discuss repair and installation details with staff and other skilled professionals
• You are able to explain technical matters in easily understood terms
• You have problem-solving skills to assess when locks and lock components should be replaced
• You have experience estimating labour and material requirements to build, modify, and replace structures such as doors, locks, etc.

  • At this time, all employees working in congregate living settings are required to provide proof they are fully vaccinated, meaning they are fully vaccinated as defined by the Ministry of Health (refer to: COVID-19 Fully Vaccinated Status in Ontario), including 14 calendar days have passed since receiving their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

    Employees who do not provide proof of full vaccination will be deemed ‘not vaccinated' under the Employer's policy and will be required to attend a vaccine education program, as determined by the Employer. Employees who are not vaccinated under the policy with a valid medical exemption will not be required to attend a vaccine education program. All employees working in congregate living settings must undergo regular rapid antigen testing, regardless of vaccination status.
