About the job

In this role, you will:
• plan, lead and develop the creative strategy, execution and evaluation of advertising and marketing campaigns for the ministry
• lead and manage the procurement and relationship with ad agencies, media buyers and research firms on behalf of the ministry
• ensure all marketing campaigns are consistent with the ministry's business plans and the government's strategic direction
• provide key oversight of timelines, budgets, production, agencies and media planning on key campaigns, including filing corporate advertising reporting
• ensure the strategy, design, technical needs and analytics of Ontario websites and social channels are linked and supported by strategic marketing campaigns
• research new marketing trends and evaluate effectiveness

What you bring to the team

Marketing Knowledge and Experience:

• You have demonstrated knowledge of contemporary strategic planning, marketing and communications theory, principles and practices, social media, creative design, branding strategies, media planning and market research analysis
• You have an understanding and knowledge of new and emerging trends in the traditional, social and digital media landscape, and the acuity to transfer new market trends into actionable marketing campaigns and projects for the ministry.

Communications Skills:

• You have demonstrated verbal and written communications skills to articulate and present information in clear easy-to- understand language for the public and media audiences
• You have proven your ability to craft and review a wide variety of marketing material
• You demonstrate effective presentation skills to articulate, present, influence, negotiate and advise
• You have a demonstrated ability to foster strong relationships and effective partnerships within the OPS and with external stakeholders

Research and Analytical Skills:

• You have proven analytical skills to identify marketing opportunities and potential issues, and suggest options to respond
• You have research skills to investigate issues from environmental scans and draft strategic marketing plans to determine issues that need to be addressed
• You can prioritize multiple projects, giving first priority to deal with contentious issues
• You have evaluation skills to assess marketing plans to ensure best practices are implemented

Computer Skills:

• You are proficient with standard office software applications e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet, Outlook, to develop marketing products, conduct research and communicate with internal and external stakeholders
