The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities (AOD) division in the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility is seeking a motivated executive leader who will play a key role in promoting accessibility across the province. The Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), AOD, will provide leadership and stewardship of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), while leading the work to remove barriers that prevent people with disabilities from fully participating in their communities. The incumbent will ensure all aspects of legislative and regulatory policy development and implementation, oversight, compliance and enforcement effectively support and meet the communities it serves.

About the job
The ADM will engage a broad range of partners and stakeholders across government, agencies, special interest groups, obligated organizations, and other jurisdictions to influence and shape the coordinated approaches in developing a modernized and effective legislative and regulatory approach to policy and standards that improve the quality of life for people with disabilities in Ontario. The ADM will champion and drive the work which will enable Ontarians to lead healthy, independent, and socially engaged lives in their communities. With a collaborative and inclusive mindset, the ADM works horizontally across the organization and with partners to take a population-centred approach to designing policies, programs, and services for people with disabilities.

Policy and Program Leadership
• You have a thorough understanding of government decision-making process and experience with public sector policy and program development
• You are a seasoned strategic and analytical thinker, and have led the development and implementation of substantive policies, programs and standards that impact change
• You have experience influencing the integration of data analysis and research methodologies into expansive policy and program development
• You have an excellent understanding of the issues and challenges related to systematic issues impacting accessibility, as well as the key stakeholders with which to collaborate
• You have demonstrated success developing and implementing multi year strategies
