Reference Assistant

The Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks a Reference Assistant who, as part of our House Publications and Language Services Branch, in Toronto, ON, will respond to research and reference inquiries related to Hansard and other House and committee documents, and provide support for the creation and maintenance of in-house reference resources, plans and procedures.

About the job

You'll act with integrity to:
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in a non-partisan support role
  • Exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgement in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment?

You'll support our collaboration as you:
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of in-house reference library and update inventory of reference material, cataloguing, and procedure manuals
  • Provide indexing software support and assist in designing and maintaining index internet pages
  • Respond to research and reference inquiries related to data in transcripts and use of in-hours reference resources
  • Maintain in-house reference materials, proofread and incorporate required information into master data files
  • Compile reference materials related to current affairs of the House and/or Committees
  • Develop, coordinate and distribute internal branch communications and learning initiatives
  • Assist with research as needed and support special research assignments and projects
  • Provide back-up reception relief to answer calls and receive visitors and materials as required
