About us
Enterprise and Corporate Applications unit manages a portfolio of critical services that support government's strategic planning and decision-making, the delivery of Ontario's budget, correspondence and reference services (address validation, government organization and contacts), legislated government communications (salary disclosure) as well as common business functions including payment gateway, bulk email, business intelligence and reporting. The unit delivers development and QA services (testing strategy and tools) and is committed to continuous improvement through adoption of modern development processes (agile and DevOps) or new technologies (cloud services).

This position is located at 33 King Street West Oshawa and/or 222 Jarvis Street, Toronto; however, alternate work arrangements including flexible hours, hybrid remote work, and compressed work week may be available.

About the job

In this role, you will:
• Provide leadership to a team of I&IT professions (10 to 30 staff).
• Oversee the delivery of application development, maintenance, enhancement and support services for one or more clients.
• Provide subject matter expertise to staff by sharing your knowledge and experience and aiding with the resolution of issues.
• Lead the planning and implementation of team projects and initiatives.
• Negotiate and manage service agreements with external consultants.
• Lead the procurement of software licences.
• Provide technical advice, options and recommendations to senior management.

What you bring to the team

Leadership skills:

• You demonstrate the leadership behaviours, attributes and mindset for leaders, across the organization, to lead the OPS into the future and deliver our vision.
• You have experience fostering an environment of high performance, learning, growth and continuous improvement.
• You have project management skills to lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of various projects.
• You have had success in motivating and building relationships with a diverse team of highly professional, technical and administrative staff.
• You have experience with strategic planning and operational management, including financial planning, budgeting as well as managing workload and human resources.
• You actively acknowledge and challenge your own unconscious biases and consistently work to reduce them.

Technical expertise:

• Knowledge of Enterprise Service Management principles and capabilities.
• Analytical, programming and leadership skills in system designs, development process re-engineering and documenting user requirements.
• Basic knowledge of financial and payment security standards.
• Knowledge of I&IT applicable standards, strategies, performance measures, business model development, IT current trends (Cloud, digital and agile).

Communication and client service skills:

• You have oral/written communication and presentation skills to effectively convey information to a variety of audiences and gain support for key initiatives.
• You have consultation skills to lead strategic discussions regarding client issues and needs
• You have relationship management skills to foster collaborative relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
