About the job
In this role, you will:
• ensure the use of effective pavement design, construction, rehabilitation and preservation policies and practices
• act as a technical expert on all matters of pavement design, construction, rehabilitation and preservation
• supervise engineers and/or technicians
• lead and evaluate innovative pavement systems, techniques, materials and equipment
• research and prepare briefing materials
• participate on internal and external technical committees or task groups
• work with ministry staff, stakeholders, consultants, contractors and external road agencies.
Note: The successful candidate will be expected to travel throughout the province to conduct field reviews.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You are a Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Pavement and Construction Experience
• you have advanced knowledge of the theory, practices and advancements of pavement design, construction, rehabilitation and preservation
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
• you have demonstrated investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve unique or complex pavement problems
Communication Skills
• you have excellent communication and computer skills, in order to develop and write formal specifications for construction materials and procedures
• you can prepare technical reports and collect, analyze, organize and present material in electronic format and provide presentations
Relationship Management
• you have demonstrated that you can establish and maintain effective working relationships and networks with engineering professionals, such as other jurisdictions, associations and stakeholders
• you have demonstrated project management and supervisory skills
