About the job

In this role, you will:
• maintain the air fleet in an airworthy condition in accordance with the regulations laid down by Transport Canada Airworthiness Manuals and Directives as issued by AFFMB
• act as a group leader in planning and organizing work for AMEs involved in maintenance and repair of specific aircraft
• organize and maintain technical records that pertain to the work being accomplish
• provide input into the maintenance planning, aircraft modifications, work procedures and inspection procedures

What you bring to the team


Mandatory:

• You possess a valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License endorsed as defined in the Class Standards.
• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
• You posses a valid Restricted Radio Operator's Certificate - Aeronautical.
• You must be able to obtain an Airport Security Clearance per Transport Canada requirements.
• You have the ability to meet the physical demands of the positions.

Technical expertise:

• You have proven knowledge of and experience in diagnosis and repair of engines, flight systems, hydraulic systems, avionics systems, undercarriage systems and propulsion systems to maintain the Ministry's CL-415 aircraft in an airworthy condition in accordance with regulations established by Transport Canada Airworthiness Manuals, Air Navigation Orders, air regulations and directives issued by AFFES.
• You have knowledge of specialized precision tools, hand tools, and aircraft manual and electronic test equipment.
• You have knowledge of specialized aircraft maintenance support equipment, such as cranes, tow vehicles, ground power units, testing equipment and balance equipment to operate them correctly and safely.

Regulatory knowledge:

• You have working knowledge of Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Airworthiness Manuals to maintain the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry's (OMNRF) CL-415 Flight Training Device (FTD) in accordance with regulations established by Transport Canada and directives issued by AFFES.
• You are familiar with the Dangerous Goods Act requirements in order to properly handle aircraft fuel, bonding agents, synthetic fluids, oils, paints, ketones and other hazardous materials, to ensure own and others' safety.

Computer proficiency:

• You have proven knowledge of computers and system software used to support a FTD, as well as the concepts of the simulation process to perform daily readiness inspections of the FTD to ensure it meets training requirements.
• You are able to proficiently operate computer-based maintenance information management systems to access maintenance records, aircraft status information and stores inventory and to download aircraft engine monitoring systems, and maintain inspection, maintenance, repair and parts records/databases.

Leadership skills:

• You have demonstrated communication skills needed to interact with staff, clients and other MNRF personnel.
• You can organize work schedules, provide direction and assign work to staff, and monitor their progress.

Analytical skills:

• You have the ability to interpret and analyze drawings, directives and manuals.
• You have a proven ability to solve technical problems.
