About the job

In this role, you will:

• assist with the coordination of the social media program by researching, creating, developing and posting creative social media content
• assist with creating engaging e-newsletter content
• provide feedback on content plans and schedules for all media channels
• liaise with parks staff and communications colleagues to define messaging and campaign timing
• provide input on activity on social media channels to keep abreast of changes in program channels
• monitor social media communities for relevance to Ontario Parks and to assist with issues management, tracking stakeholder trends
• create and update daily, weekly and monthly reports as required
• develop content for internal and external websites on specific initiatives, marketing and promotions

What you bring to the team


Social media and digital marketing expertise:


You have:
• experience working with social media platforms, blogs, websites and other communication channels
• knowledge of marketing and communications theory, methods, techniques
• experience developing and managing social media content and publishing
• knowledge of current and leading social and digital marketing trends
• knowledge of web page development, including HTML CSS, W3C standards for web accessibility requirements
• knowledge of web and/or social media metrics to analyze results of social media initiatives

Communications knowledge and interpersonal skills:


You have:
• research and writing techniques to develop content for web, social media and other communication channels
• communication and presentation skills to provide updates on content and social media approaches
• interpersonal skills to collaborate with others, participate in meetings to discuss objectives, messages and audiences
• writing and editing skills to research and write accurate, creative social media channel specific content

Computer proficiency:


You have:
• knowledge of Microsoft Suite programs in PC/Windows environment, user interfaces, browser compatibilities and search engine optimization to ensure optimal delivery of social media initiatives
• knowledge of personal computers, including word-processing, record keeping, internet and email applications
• knowledge of software to support social media, graphics and photo/video processing and editing
• experience loading, testing and measuring social media content accurately and efficiently

Analytical and problem-solving skills:


You have:
• problem-solving skills to resolve quality and delivery issues
• analytical skills to understand performance metrics for social media program and specific social media campaigns

Organizational skills:


• you can handle multiple projects and calendars simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
