The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a regulatory agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horse racing, and private cannabis retail sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.
The I&IT division of the AGCO has an exciting opportunity within the Business Optimization and Insights (BOI) team for a Business Analyst. Reporting to the Manager, Digital Product Planning, you will conduct business and process analysis and develop requirement definitions and solution options for AGCO projects led or supported by BOI. You will work closely with business and project leader(s), external vendors, business users, product team members (developers, testers, and trainers) and other BOI team members in the development and implementation of business process and requirements for system changes and improvements.
About the job
In this role, the successful candidate will:
- Analyze and clearly document business requirements for projects related to process optimization initiatives and changes requested for AGCO's digital enterprise solutions.
- Elicit business requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis.
- Analyze and critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts and converts high-level information into details to determine alternate solutions.
- Model and document current and future state business processes in sufficient detail to inform analysis and support implementation, using standard modeling notation.
- Deliver informative, well-organized presentations, and sensitive/difficult information tactfully
- Provide suggestions or assist in developing and enhancing the process of collecting and defining requirements in support of project governance.
- Identify and develop solutions to issues where the business requirements/processes and software capabilities are misaligned.
- Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to conduct technical feasibility , where required, and analyze tradeoffs between usability, wants and actual needs.
- Assist business areas in preparing and submitting change requests for digital products (such as iAGCO)Support the review, prioritization, sizing of change requests and configuration of iAGCO and other enterprise solutions.
- Lead or support the collection and validation of metadata for iAGCO and other enterprise solutions.
- Support the development, testing, and training teams in providing knowledge and clarity on requirements and user impacts.
What you bring to the team
The ideal candidate will have:
- Professional education in IT, Economics or Engineering field accompanied with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Expert knowledge of standard BABOK methodologies.
- Superior analytical skills with experience in reengineering business processes.
- Very good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experience with determining cause and effect relationships.
- Experience with Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is an asset
- Expert knowledge of Visio, Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience with remote/virtual collaboration and facilitation
- Excellent communication and workshop facilitation skills working with stakeholders across various areas in the organization
- Practical knowledge of Agile methodologies is an asset
