About the job
In this role you will:
- Perform library support services such as circulation duties.
- Maintain and update a computerized database.
- Shelving, filing and maintaining a variety of collections (i.e. books, videos, learning kits, research papers, etc.).
- Purchase books and learning materials and coordinate publisher sales.
- Locate, make available and distribute a variety of accessible formats for students who are blind or have low-vision.
- Learn, explore and provide support and instruction for staff and students on the use of accessible technology.
- Provide professional-development for staff related to your work.
- Communicate with students, staff and families on the support and resources that the WRMS library provides.
- Work with students of all ages promoting an appreciation of reading, for all formats.
What you bring to the team
Skills and Qualifications:
Your background and experience enables you to meet the following requirements:
- You have a Library and Information Technician diploma and/or equivalent training or work experience in the library and information field.
- You know library processes, procedures, protocols and coding systems including the Dewey Decimal system.
- You have knowledge of and the ability to operate library automation software and keyboarding skills.
- You understand relevant purchasing policies and procedures.
- You can effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- You demonstrate organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- You can work independently and part of a team to exercise attention to detail.
- You have physical dexterity/mobility and ability to lift up to 7 kg.
- You have an interest in learning new skills related to the needs of staff and students.
