About the job
The Ministry of Education, Centre Jules-Léger, requires a Student Support Counsellor for the morning supervision and care of learning disabled students by assisting with personal hygiene skills such as washing, toileting, dressing, eating and ensuring physical, safety and emotional needs are met.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
Secondary School Graduation Diploma or College Certificate/Diploma in a child related field and/or equivalent training and experience in working with children with learning disabilities in a residential facility. Excellent communications skills in oral and written French and English in order to communicate effectively with students/parents/staff. A demonstrated ability to maintain responsible morning care to students. Ability to work as a team member. Knowledge of relevant legislation i.e. Child & Familly Services Act and School's policies, procedures, guidelines and practices.
NOTE: The successful candidate will be required to provide an original, satisfactory Criminal Reference Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within the last six (6) months) as deemed suitable by the Employer, prior to the commencement of employment.
