Are you interested in joining a dedicated team delivering innovative solutions? This is an amazing opportunity for a Developer in the Labour and Transportation I&IT Cluster (LTC).

Within LTC, this role will undertake development activities in support of a large portfolio of software solutions spanning the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD).

In this role, you will join project teams in the design, development and implementation of cost-effective information technology solutions and services, as well as provide technical input to project plans related to IT solutions.

About us:
The Labour and Transportation I&IT Cluster (LTC) provides leadership in the planning and deployment of information technology for the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. The cluster enables the delivery of I&IT programs and services, support the generation of new business opportunities, and builds on key elements of the Government I&IT infrastructure.

Within LTC, the Digital Solutions Branch works directly with end users and stakeholders to launch both public and employee-facing digital transformation technology solutions. We leverage modern technology and methodologies including Cloud, Agile/Scrum and Balanced Delivery Teams.

We are re-thinking how we deliver services through modernization initiatives and how we access and deliver critical services remotely. We are aiming to enable a future-ready OPS workforce through technology-focused enterprise-wide strategies.

About the job

Working with a team of talented individuals, you will design and implement projects and initiatives for cloud-based systems and components primarily using leading cloud technologies such as Azure.

You will work to deliver IT solutions to tangible, real-world problems and implement systems that deliver services core to all of government. Things to expect in this role:

• Constructing solutions/applications including code development, configuration, testing and implementation
• Providing development services in all activities pertaining to the ideation, estimation, design, development, testing and implementation of IT applications/products across the Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Live product lifecycle
• Delivering software solutions as part of a lean, Agile methodology
• Following an Agile development approach to code creation and refactoring
• Working alongside a cross-functional team composed of Developers, Quality Assurance, UX Designers, Product Managers, Product Owners, and Project Managers.
• As part of code development activities, developing unit tests, automated tests (e.g. coded UI, performance, and others), running automated tests, analyzing test results, logging application defects
• Supporting the deployment of application code to DEV/QA/UAT environments via automation and Continuous Integration\Continuous Delivery (CI\CD) pipelines.

What you bring to the team


Technical Knowledge and Skills

You are skilled and experienced in building enterprise systems and components, services and products using best practices
• You have experience with cloud services (PaaS, SaaS, IaaS)
• You have experience with using cloud platforms like Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform
• You have technical skills in using technologies and tools such as Visual Studio, VS Code, Azure DevOps, Azure Portal
• You have the ability to work with the .NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC, Angular, C#, SQL, JavaScript Front-End Frameworks, HTML, CSS and Git-based source control
• You have experience and skills in Full-Stack development, including API development
• You have experience with Agile development, working within an automated CI\CD pipeline, and working as part of an Agile development team

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

• You have proven reasoning and problem-solving to identify and assess, problems impacting software solutions
• You have demonstrated analytical skills to assess technical development problems and construct computerized solutions
• You have researching skills to resolve complex programming and design issues

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

• You have excellent interpersonal and client-relationship skills to work with colleagues and client staff in a cross-functional delivery team
• You have conflict resolution, negotiation and influence skills to develop and recommend systems development solutions
• You have proven communications and listening skills to participate in technical discussions with vendors, customers and staff
