About us: The Unit manages, coordinates and develops the implementation and communication of both dynamic and static preventive security policies and programs, including the ministry's field intelligence program, to ensure consistency in the delivery of field intelligence services across the ministry/ government. It also develops preventive security strategies, policies, procedures and standards in order to enhance safety for residents and staff of youth facilities. Additionally, the Unit manages and develops investigation policies and programs; conducts administrative investigations on behalf of the employer within the Youth Justice Division; and provides strategic advice to Senior Management on preventative security strategies policies, programs, and staff training initiatives. Additionally, the Unit manages the development of the Division's crisis management and intervention programs (i.e. Crisis Response Teams, Negotiators, etc.), as well as providing strategic advice/ subject matter expertise to ministry senior management on issues related to crisis intervention management, planning, implementation and delivery.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will
• provide leadership in managing a diverse, multi-disciplined team located throughout the province, carrying out investigations and intelligence led activities.
• lead the development and implementation of emergency interventions and security policies/programs in youth custody facilities and services.
• coordinate involvement in major investigations by determining the direction of the investigation and assigning support.
• provide advice and guidance to other children/youth sectors and ministries on all aspects of investigations, security best practices and crisis response models.
• contribute to safety of youth, staff, and public by collaborating and coordinating information sharing with law enforcement agencies.
