About the job
In this role, you will:
• Review, prepare and process a variety of human resources and payroll documents
• Record and verify employee attendance in the human resources database
• Verify payroll and salary information for accuracy
• Track attendance, salary and end dates for fixed-term contract employees
• Develop and retrieve reports
• Liaise with human resources and payroll professionals on employee issues
• Organize, maintain, update and ensure the safekeeping of personnel files and databases
What you bring to the team
Specialized Knowledge and Experience
• You have experience in providing a wide range of personnel, human resources and payroll support services
• You have knowledge of payroll, attendance and benefits processing requirements
• You have the ability to interpret and apply human resources policies and procedures, and collective agreements provisions
Research, Analytical, Problem Solving and Reasoning Skills
• You can verify human resources and payroll information in reports, spreadsheets or other sources to ensure accuracy
• You can identify, analyze and resolve errors in payroll and attendance documents, and respond to inquiries from staff concerning payroll and benefits related issues
• You have strong arithmetic skills to calculate and reconcile data related to payroll, attendance and employee benefit entitlements
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You can explain policies, procedures and practices to employees as they apply to pay and benefits
• You have strong writing skills to prepare memos and responses to inquiries
• You can resolve discrepancies or complaints effectively while maintaining confidentiality of personnel related information
Organizational and Time Management Skills
• You can organize, coordinate and complete work within established time frames and under minimal supervision
Computer Skills
• You are proficient with word processing, spreadsheets and email applications to prepare correspondence, input or extract payroll and attendance data, and produce reports
• You can use human resources databases to enter and track data
