About Us
The Strategic Business Management Branch provides strategic support to the legal services branches in all ministries and a number of agencies, in achieving business goals and program initiatives. It provides direction in the areas of legal planning and coordination, communications, strategic operational and resource planning, technology development and support and workforce planning

The Legal Information & Technology Services Unit is comprised of the MAG Law Library and Civil Law IT Programs. The Law Library supports Ministry staff in meeting their legal information needs by providing access to specialized resources and texts, legal research support, training and tools. Civil Law IT Programs leads the procurement and implementation of legal technology solutions and manages access to legal resources in a sustainable and fiscally responsible manner.

About the job

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will:
- Perform business analysis to ensure a true understanding of business requirements
- Conduct and/or participates in projects to research and analyze
- Participate in the preparation of business cases to recommend the implementation of new/re-engineered processes
- Participate in internal and external stakeholder relationships through consultations, solutions development, and partnering
- Research trends, developments, and best practices in business analysis
- Prepare annual budget estimates, business cases, and RFBs - Investigates and analyses historical data for trends, provides IT operational and benchmark reports

What you bring to the team


Business Analysis Skills:

• Perform business analysis to ensure a true understanding of business requirements and evaluates the underlying business goals/drives of the client to ensure future product development aligns with client needs.
• You can liaise with clients in the formulation of business analysis and architecture plans to ensure that they are integrated and scalable to support future growth
• You can ensure a common understanding between business, data and technical areas involved in implementing and understanding the change from the client's perspective
• You can prepare detailed business requirements, use cases, process models, gap analysis, options papers and data models

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

• You can prepare reports and analyses to recommend the implementation of new/re-engineered processes and to contribute to the business planning process.
• You can develop recommendations to meet legislative and business needs
• You can conduct and/or participate in projects to research and analyze integrated service delivery requirements

Project Management Skills:

• You have project management methodology to manage projects and deliverables to ensure goals are met.
• You can project management to plan, coordinate and lead projects for developing IT solutions.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of theory and practice of business process modeling and quality systems
• Knowledge of theory and practice of service delivery principles, systems, and processes in order to contribute to the strategic planning process
• Knowledge and understanding of key performance indicators, qualitative and quantitative measurement, and risk assessment

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You have consultation and collaboration skills to obtain an understanding of business processes
• You have strong written and oral communication skills to prepare submissions, requirements and planning documents, reports, briefing materials and correspondence
• You can present proposals to client and senior management
• You can interview clients and explain technical concepts to audiences who may not be familiar with I&IT concepts and terminology.
